Learn EI From Iga
Although the women's world champion Polish tennis player, Iga Swiatek, lost to Ukrainian player Elina Svitonlina in the quarter-finals of this year's Wimbledon tennis tournament, I learned about her strong mental resilience.
Every time she lost a point, she didn't show frustration or blame. She just calmly walked back to her serving position and prepared for the next point.
Every time she won a point, she would clench her fist, cheer herself on, and shout, "Come on!"
Whether she won or lost, her facial expression didn't change much, which made it difficult for her opponent to read her emotions.
All her emotional coping strategies seemed to have been rehearsed many times and had become habits.
She took notes during the tournament break to record the key findings of the match.
Gradually, her performance became more solid due to the "accumulation" of self-encouragement, and negative emotions gradually faded away. People say that negative emotions need to be vented, but I believe that as long as positive emotions accumulate to a certain extent, negative emotions will be masked. When it is written in a notebook, everything is habitually stored away - turning setbacks and pain into motivation for the next victory.
This is not an easy thing to do. We need to make it a habit in our daily lives. When we encounter setbacks, we habitually move on to the next step without complaining or getting angry. When we achieve something, we should applaud ourselves, celebrate, and add positive emotions. Write down negative thoughts, make emotions that are hiding in the shadows clear, and treat them as regular visitors the next time they appear.
As the saying goes, "repetition is a form of power." When we repeatedly do the above things, we can also have the emotional intelligence of world-class athletes.
Love. David
