20 "DON'TS" FOR DESIGNERS |
Don't get discouraged by design disapproval. Leave it for the next client who appreciates your work. Tell your current client, "I have a better idea, would you like to see it?"
Don't be disappointed by the difficulty of improving your design skills. It's time to courageously seek guidance from a mentor you admire. Trust me, good mentors are always generous.
Don't resent your superiors for not trusting your creativity. Instead, be grateful and say, "With your trust, I will do even better."
Don't let uncontrollable factors deflate the team's morale. Think, "It's time to expand creativity to all departments. It's time to build a resilient organizational culture. It's time to become more responsible."
Don't be lost due to your partner's betrayal. Ask yourself, "Do I really need a partner? Is it out of fear or to share responsibilities?"
Don't fear being replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) in your job because AI can never match your warm smile, human warmth, and presence. So, how much do you have?
Don't let life become dull because your designs will reflect that.
Don't worry about losing direction. On the contrary, when you feel lost despite thinking you have a clear goal, that's when you need to face it.
Don't mind the media's comments. Ask yourself, "Is it true?" Give yourself more chances to improve.
Don't strive for money alone because it cannot take you to the place where you'd go without hesitation. Ask yourself, what is the purpose of your money? "To buy a car, a house, happiness, freedom..." And then what? "To live the life you love, do the work you love, take care of your family, enjoy life, retire..." And then what? And then what?
Don't think that your painstaking creation should be accepted by clients by default. First, ask yourself, how deeply do you understand your clients' needs? Very well? Then, revise your design.
Don't be afraid to be a "small person" before being a "noble person" because being a "noble person" before being a "small person" is even scarier.
Don't underestimate yourself. Clients understand the rules of the game, making you feel unimportant. But don't be fooled! But... what if it's true? Think about how to become more valuable.
Don't think that service means pleasing others and obeying their every command. Good service is actively listening to and understanding clients' genuine needs.
Don't treat your company as a loan company where you don't chase or collect payments for your designs. In reality, clients secretly mock your lack of professionalism.
Don't give clients who only want to pay for good designs but don't support creativity a chance. They can cause more harm to you and your company than not having money.
Don't neglect your employees because they see and understand everything you do. Be a leader with integrity and let them see the authentic you.
Don't work just to survive. Look at those survival shows in the wild that teach you to eat insects, tree bark, cow dung, use animal skin for warmth, and start fires with wood. Do you think your employees would be willing to work with you in this way in the long term?"
Don't scoff at seeking help from others. Only a madman would keep going in circles in an alley expecting a miracle. Your mentors might not be more experienced than you, but they certainly stand higher and see things you can't.
Don't think that nobody sees your unethical behavior and hold onto a false sense of luck. Because you can never deceive your own eyes, and that will only make you more miserable.
Love.
